Regulation for franchise sector

The retail franchise sector in the UAE requires greater governmental regulation according to a legal expert cited by Gulf News. Jayshree Gupta, a partner at DLA Piper Middle East, said at present laws relating to commercial agencies and the general civil law of the UAE govern the field. New regulations could incorporate greater disclosure of information by franchisors and a cooling off period to enable franchisees to make informed decisions.
