Iran to privatise telco firm

Iran plans to privatise its government owned telecom company by the end of the Iranian year, March 19 2008, according to Reuters citing state television. The country's previous attempts to stoke up interest in public owned firms from the private sector has generated only a lukewarm response. Earlier this year, Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, said Iran needed to revive its privatisation programme.
