Arabsat satellite deal

Riyadh's Arab Satellite Communications Organisation has signed a contract with a European consortium, comprising EADS-Astrium and Thales Alenia Space, to manufacture and launch two of its fifth generation satellites, reported Arab News. Additional contracts were signed regarding the launch of the satellites, Arabsat-5A and BADR-5, which will be handled by France's Arianespace and the US based ILS/Proton. The launches will occur between Q3 2009 and Q1 2010.
