  • PRESS RELEASE

Emirates Glass, one of the leading processors of architectural flat glass in the Middle East and a subsidiary of Glass LLC, which is wholly owned by Dubai Investments (DI), has recently announced its Q1 2007 results indicating an increase of 35% compared to Q1 2006.

Mr. Ziad Yazbeck, General Manager, Emirates Glass said: "This quarter marks a substantial increase in our delivery itinerary and this is due to our total focus and commitment towards our clients, insuring that they are receiving the best in quality glass products at record delivery times."

During the first quarter of 2007 Emirates Glass completed over 9 projects totaling around 220,000 sqm of various types of coated glass, to major contractors in the GCC region. Among the major projects that were handed over are Saba Tower 1, Gold Crest, Golf Towers, Park Place, Marina Crown, and Marina Waves. Emirates Glass in Q1 2006 had supplied a total of around 169,652 sqm of various types of coated glass marking this quarter's increase close to 35%.

These Q1 2007 figures are also indicative of Emirates Glass's AED100 million ongoing expansion plan, which was recently announced. "The expansion plan, which upon final completion at the end of 2007, will have increased the coating capacity to three million square metres per annum bringing the total capacity to 3.7 million square metres of flat glass products," explained Mr. Yazbeck.

The core operation of Emirates Glass is the application of ultra-thin metallic coatings by means of cathodic sputtering on to float glass substrates. These coatings, which comprise various combinations of Silver, Tin, Zinc, Chromium, Titanium and Stainless Steel, greatly enhance the colour and reflectivity of the glass. Thus Emirates Glass products provide impressive levels of Solar Control and Thermal Insulation (when used in double glazing) to minimize heat gain into all building types besides reducing the consumption of energy for summer cooling.

At present, the Emirates Glass order-book has swelled to more than a million square meters of various glass types. These products are being supplied to various iconic projects throughout the region.

"As our operations continue to grow, we envision that the year 2007 will further witness remarkable growth. We are full prepared to meet all the requirements from our regional and overseas clients," said Mr. Yazbeck.
