Sharjah Tatweer Forum outlines its strategy for the period between 2007 and 2009

Sharjah Tatweer Forum, 'Tatweer', an initiative launched to boost the involvement and influence of Sharjah's young talents for encouraging competitiveness in the public and private sectors, recently held a meeting for its members at the Supreme Council for Family Affairs to highlight its strategic plans to the emerging pool of young and talented leaders in Sharjah.

The gathering is part of Tatweer's attempts to enhance interactivity between private and public sector organisations in order to achieve sustainable development in the emirate. Sharjah Tatweer Forum was formed under a decree issued by H.H. Sheikh Dr. Sultan bin Mohammed Al Qasimi, Ruler of Sharjah and Member of the UAE Supreme Council and the honorary Chairman of Tatweer

Speaking at the meeting, Hussain Al Mahmoudi, Chairman, Sharjah Tatweer Forum said: "I would like to thank H.H. Sheikh Dr. Sultan bin Mohammed Al Qasimi for his visionary leadership, valued advise and continued support towards the goals of the Forum. This gathering emphasises the commitment to developing a world-class pool of young talents who will enhance the sustainable development of the Emirate of Sharjah."

The gathering provided participants an overview of Tatweer's strategy and plans for the coming period between 2007 and 2009, as well as activities that have taken place. Future plans of Tatweer will include an ambitious research and development program that will enable the Forum to adopt best practices in the fields of scientific research, technology and the environment. During the meeting, participants also saw the launch of the second "Tatweer Leadership Program" and the Private Public Partnership Program.

During the gathering, Al Mahmoudi also announced that the suggestions scheme "Mubadara" has been finalized. He also highlighted Tatweer's partnerships with high profile companies such as Perofac and Sharjah Islamic Bank and mentioned that an online Discussion Forum has been launched with the aim of fostering interaction between Tatweer's members and soliciting the participation of all members in forging new programs and projects for the future..

Since last January, 41 new members have joined Tatweer and obtained the opportunity to get involved in frameworks that have been tested and implemented. Also discussed at the meeting were several proposals for new programs and ratification of Tatweer's Constitution by the Board of Directors.

Additionally, the Forum addressed next year's work agenda which includes expanding Tatweer's base of corporate partners and focusing on projects that support the competitive advantages of the emirate. Members also addressed marketing initiatives and ways to enhance Tatweer's activities by increased member participation and taking advantage of their wide array of experiences and qualifications. Also discussed were the possibilities of extending members' support to projects as they gain experience and be exposed to best practices and volunteer work. Participants also discussed mechanisms to enhance Tatweer's relations with the public, government and private sector, as well as other institutions of civil society to promote Tatweers' activities among these institutions to ensure greater support and participation.

"The period ahead will witness a comprehensive evaluation of Tatweer as an organisation and will focus on ways to improve its functional structure and activities. We will also aim to focus on key strategic events which further promote the role of the organisation and work to expand our base of corporate partners with the objective of better servicing and engaging with the corporate sector in Sharjah. The Forum will also focus on attracting a larger number of proficient and experienced members with different competencies to ensure sharing of best practices among all members," said Al Mahmoudi.
