Eight more A380s for Emirates

Emirates has today, Monday, signed a deal worth $2.6bn for eight additional Airbus A380s, bringing to 55 its total order of the double-decker aircraft. Emirates will take delivery of its first A380, powered by GP7200 engines, in Q3 2008. The eight additional aircraft ordered today are expected to be delivered over 16 months, starting from July 2011.
