Mena credit card use soars

The number of credit cards in the Mena region rose by 24% in 2006 to 6.23m, according to research cited by Gulf News. A report by the UK-based Lafferty Group said the number of cards in the region will rise by another 50% by 2008. The number of cardholders in Jordan grew by 61% last year, the highest growth rate in the region. A Lafferty's official said the region is witnessing an 'incredible growth rate, albeit from a low base.'
