Omantel ranks 1st among Oman's top 20 listed companies

This choice is based on the growth of the company's revenues of the year 2006 compared with 2005. The company's revenues totaled RO 323.6 million during 2006, thus recording an increase of 20% over the 2005. Omantel was also ranked first as it has achieved a net profit of RO 81.1 million with a growth rate of 19% over 2005.

This classification is a clear indication of Omantel's leading position among the listed companies at Muscat Securities Market in terms of net profits and overall capital.

Omantel has realized this top rank in view of its role in boosting trading activity at MSM since the first day of the listing of its shares in the market on 28 July 2005.

Over the past period, Omantel has been instrumental in the entry into MSM of large numbers of new shareholders. Therefore, trading has flourished on a daily manner. Omantel has also been leading the market as its shares topped daily trading activity.

It is worth noting that Omantel seeks to enhance its investment portfolio through entering into competitions outside the Sultanate. Therefore, it has become one of the leading companies in the telecom sector in the Arab world and the Middle East.

Despite the fact that the Sultanate's telecom sector has seen real competition with the entry of new operators, Omantel has managed to maintain its excellent performance. The number of its subscribers has grown by 15% last year to hit more than 1.6 million compared with 2005.
