- PRESS RELEASE
The National Health Insurance Company - Daman has announced that it is currently working with various healthcare providers within its network to facilitate authorizations and pre-approvals of certain medical procedures
As a first step of its kind, Daman appointed delegates in some government hospitals to provide its members with the necessary support without interference in any of the Administrative process in the hospitals.
"We are coordinating with medical providers to train them on new administrative procedures and processes related to the Health Insurance Law. By implementing the new processes we are introducing new international standards in the healthcare system which ultimately will provide the community with enhanced medical services," said Dr. Michael Bitzer, CEO of Daman.
Daman clarified that emergency cases and regular check ups, does not require pre-approvals. Patients requiring MRIs, CT Scans, dental treatment, endoscopies, hospital admissions and surgical procedures only will be requested to obtain pre-authorization from Daman.
Daman has dedicated over 30 professional physicians and nurses to receive pre-authorization requests, process them internally and respond to the respective healthcare providers within a timeframe of 15-20 minutes. In the case that Daman denies approval of certain medical procedures, then it is strictly due to the limited scope of the health insurance coverage.
Dr. Bitzer further stated that: "We are doing our best to protect the interest of our customers, and we are working closely with the healthcare providers to enhance the services offered to them"
Daman will also conduct training programs for hospitals' staff to align the administrative procedures implemented by both the providers and the company, and to ensure the smooth flow of operations.
The company recently held its first Daman Network Conference that was attended by local and regional prominent healthcare figures. The conference shed light on various challenges faced by the medical service providers in the region and proposed solutions to enhance the healthcare system. The conference also discussed the implementation of the Health Insurance Scheme, and its effects on the operations of the healthcare institutions.
