GAC appoints Regional P&I Manager to boost Middle East business

In her new role, Meena will spearhead the drive to develop the Group's relations with P&I Clubs throughout the region and ensure consistent high standards wherever GAC is hired as a P&I Club correspondent.

Bengt Ekstrand, GAC's Regional Director for the Middle East, says the Group's role as a correspondent for internationally-recognised P&I Clubs has grown considerably, prompting Meena's appointment to oversee related activities throughout the region.

"P&I represents a very important segment in our overall service portfolio serving the global shipping industry and that significance is growing," he says.

"That's why we decided to give Meena a regional role, in addition to her existing responsibilities as Business Manager in GAC Dubai's P&I Department. In her regional capacity, she will help to develop our P&I business further and ensure consistently high professional standards wherever we are appointed as correspondents."

Meena's main duties will include:
-Acting as the main GAC contact person for P&I services in the region
-Providing support to other offices for high profile claims handling
-Ensuring high levels of correspondent service standard/quality control
-Visiting P&I Clubs on a regular basis to exchange information and keep them up-to-date about GAC
-Visiting the GAC offices throughout the Middle East to ensure that the highest level of service are maintained
-Organising regional correspondent meetings and training programmes in the region
