Standard Chartered exceeds 2006 Emiratisation target
- United Arab Emirates: Wednesday, June 20 - 2007 at 14:56
- PRESS RELEASE
Standard Chartered, a leading international bank in the UAE, continues to lead the way for Emiratisation in the banking and finance industries.
In its latest drive, the Bank partnered with Dubai Women's College and Sharjah Women's College in a bid to attract talented, newly graduated female UAE nationals to the Bank. 'The Employers' Day programme' - an initiative organised by both colleges - took place over two days in Dubai and Sharjah, resulting in a near 5000 strong contingent of candidates and an array of prospective employers.
"We are committed to developing local talent in all countries we operate in and the UAE is no different," said Ruth McGill, Regional Head Human Resources, Standard Chartered. "During the 'Employers' Day programme' we were fortunate enough to meet over 100 promising candidates. We interviewed UAE Nationals on the spot for positions at Standard Chartered, and as a result we have already successfully added to our strong local talent base."
To continue its commitment to Emiratisation, Standard Chartered partners with leading institutions in the UAE, including the Emirates Institute of Banking & Finance in Sharjah (EIBFS), and Tanmia. More recently, Standard Chartered has partnered with the DIFC to train and develop UAE nationals for careers in the financial services industry.
"We are looking to build a world class banking industry and cultivate local talent which will be done by attracting, developing, and retaining the best people," continued Ruth.
"Standard Chartered's relationship with leading UAE academic institutions ensures we have a constant pool of the best available National talent. In return, Standard Chartered offers candidates invaluable experience and exposure to an international working environment, which encourages them to realise their full potential in a competitive finance sector," concluded Ruth.
