Qatar bids for Asian Cup

Qatar has put in a late bid to host the 2011 Asian Cup, the Peninsula reported. India and Iran have also expressed an interest in holding the event, according to the Asian Football Confederation. The host country will be announced on 29 July. Qatar, which last year held the Asian Games in Doha, hosted the Asian Cup in 1988.
