All fourteen Higher College of Technology (HCT) UAE national students who studied for the Higher Diploma in Paramedics at Dubai Women's and Men's Colleges are the first advanced life support paramedics to work on a UAE ambulance and first UAE nationals to achieve international paramedic qualifications.

The HCT's advanced life support paramedic program started four years ago in partnership with the Dubai Police, Harrisburg Area Community College, and the Dubai Ambulance Service. The students have spent the month of June in the U.S. completing their mandatory advanced life support clinical internship with the West Shore Ambulance Service. In addition, the students have successfully completed specialized courses in Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS), Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS), and International Trauma Life Support (ITLS). These pioneering Emiratis will return to Dubai on June 27th.

'We were confident our students will pass the exam. This is a great accomplishment for the students themselves, for the HCT, and for the Emirati community which will have its own sons and daughters serve its paramedic needs,' said Ronald Blough, paramedic faculty at Dubai Women's College.
