- United Arab Emirates: Sunday, June 24 - 2007 at 14:42
- PRESS RELEASE
Dubai Islamic Bank (DIB) announced today the launch of the sixth round of its training programme, Iktasib, which provides professional development training for UAE nationals.
The total UAE national workforce at DIB now accounts for 45 per cent of the bank's total employees. That percentage is expected to increase following the implementation an ambitious expansion plan that will increase the bank's branches by 14 to 53 branches by the end of 2007.
Ahmed Al Serkal, Senior Vice President and Head of DIB Group's HR department, said: " Investment in national resources is on the bank's priority list. The bank's efforts represented by its Emiratisation Unit have played a major role in enhancing emiratisation levels in the UAE's banking sector."
He added: "It also provides a practical and professional opportunity for UAE youth to familiarise themselves with a professional business environment. The programme has attracted 200 trainees, including senior students in schools, colleges and universities from across the UAE. Due to the great demand, two courses will take place during July and August 2007."
This training exposes the trainees to the bank's overall strategy and vision. The Iktasib programme is known for introducing practical training, starting with an opening reception for the trainees where they receive general information about the bank and its operations, and become familiar with Islamic financial services and its contribution to society. Trainees are then divided into groups according to the bank's divisions, where they begin practical work.
