The exterior of the Nissan Murano shows why it is called "Sculpture in Motion". The name Murano is inspired from the elegantly sculpted glass art that comes from the Adriatic islands near Venice. The wraparound surface construction, architectural front grille, sporty upswept shaped D pillar blend and rounded rear cargo door project a three dimensional feel featuring SUV muscle below the beltline and sport sedan like openness above.

The 2008 YM Nissan Murano features a 3.5-litre V6 generating a resounding 266 BHP at 5,800 rpm and 36.2 kg-m of torque at 3,600 rpm delivering class-leading performance. The 3.5-litre V6 engine is the only engine to be named as the Ward's Auto World's "10 Best" list every year they have awarded it.

The Nissan Murano's Double Overhead cam design uses lightweight aluminum components and advanced friction reducing technologies resulting in an engine that does more with less effort, mated to a six speed manual gearbox with continuously variable transmission (CVT) to maintain the most efficient RPM range and ensure velvet-like ride quality.
