IBQ looks to design its new premises; a high rise tower in the heart of Doha's financial district

The International Bank of Qatar (IBQ) announces the signing of an agreement with Yamasaki, a renowned international architect consultancy firm.
The signing ceremony, which took place at IBQ's current headquarters, included a design brief to build an iconic and prestigious high-rise tower. The key objective is to create a distinctive landmark in the West Bay area and a spacious building that will comfortably accommodate IBQ's rapid growth.
"As one of Qatar's fastest growing banks, IBQ is constantly expanding its services and increasing its staff. In response to this upward trend, we are now looking at creating new facilities to accommodate this growth. As we grow, we need facilities that can place all our expertise under one roof. As a result, we have appointed one of the world's best architecture firms. Yamasaki is a firm that can truly reflect our values artistically and literally, placing IBQ at the heart of Doha's new financial and business centre - West Bay," commented Michael Williams, General Manager of IBQ.
Yamasaki is an award winning, US licensed, architecture firm based in the State of Michigan,USA. Having been in business for over 50 years, Yamasaki offers full architecture and interior design services, which include programming, planning and construction administration. Yamasaki has extensive experience both in the USA and abroad with notable projects in Saudi Arabia, China and Japan. Successfully completed projects include the Woodrow Wilson School of Public and International Affairs, Princeton University, the Royal.
Reception Pavilion at King Abdulaziz International Airport in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia, the 60 storey Burj Dubai Residential Tower in Dubai and the new National Theatre and Convention Centre in Qatar.
IBQ's new headquarters will ensure that the bank's rapidly growing number of employees, expected to reach over 300, will continue to provide excellence in financial service for which IBQ has been recognised, coupled with the convenience of location. As a bank with over 50 years worth of experience, the new facilities will allow IBQ to continue to serve Qatar from the heart of Doha's financial district into the future.
