With an encouraging list of participants, across various workshops and activities, the 8 weeks long forum will be a key to DCC's initiatives in promoting art and culture among the present generation.

The Art and Cultural Forum is being organized to realize the vision of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, to promote UAE's rich heritage, art and culture among the local youth.

The forum, rich and diverse in topics, includes many activities that will help UAE's local and expatriate youth understand and experience various forms of culture, arts, music and theatre. The forum, since its announcement, has attracted a large number of participants registering for various sections of lectures and practical sessions that promise to enrich their knowledge in the different fields.

Dr. Salah Al Qassim, General Secretary (DCC), said: 'Being the first ever forum initiated by us, we are indeed pleased by the response from both the sponsors and participants across various fields. Many have expressed their interest and the registering process is in full swing. It is really exciting to see a very high level of interest among the youth of today to understand and learn about the Arabian culture and arts. The Forum is a major step in attracting the younger generations, which goes very well along with our overall objectives to develop the culture and arts scene in Dubai and the UAE.'

'Doors are still open for all those interested in participating in the different activities and workshops. We have made sure to cover various areas of interests including handcrafts, fine arts, theater, cinema, music, science and literature, and many other interesting activities,' he added.

'The forum is a major step towards more excellence and forms a key part of the desire to enrich and broaden the cultural panorama of the country, specifically within Dubai,' he concluded.

The event is being duly supported by Damas, DTCM, Dubai Studio City and Ministry of Social Affairs, with Sama Dubai TV being the media sponsors. Apart from this the DCC has also ensured support from a group of cultural organizations like Sultan Bin Ali Al Owais Cultural Foundation, Juma Al Majid Center for Culture and Heritage, The Cultural and Scientific Association, and other leading institutions.

About DCC
On the 12th of January 2004, H.H Sheikh Maktoum Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, issued a decree to establish the Dubai Cultural Council (DCC) in order to promote cultural development in the Emirate.

With its formation, the council opened doors for the private sector to enter into partnership for projects to further develop the cultural activities in Dubai. Ultimately, the council aims to promote Dubai as a cultural destination by preserving the local culture and hosting cultural performances of artists from different parts of the world. The council also aims to provide impetus to the cultural, literary, and other creative activities in the Emirate.

In addition, the Cultural Council has launched its website www.dubaiculturalcouncil.ae as a cultural gate for the entire cultural foundations and centers, providing adequate information about the main literates and the pioneers of culture in the UAE.
