Mr. Baker was on a two-day visit to the Middle East with Mohammed Alshaya to see the brand's growth, visit stores in the region and discuss future plans and initiatives. During his visit, he met with senior officials from the M.H. Alshaya Co. in Kuwait and commended the Boots Middle East team on the success of the brand in the region. He also visited the Boots flagship store in Avenues Mall in Kuwait and the Boots store at the Mall of the Emirates in Dubai.

Commenting on the growth of Boots in the region, Mr. Baker said:

"Boots entry into the Middle East has been very well received. In just one year, we have opened 15 stores with our partner M.H. Alshaya Co. In the first six months of 2007, we have more than doubled our presence in Kuwait and Dubai which demonstrates the high demand in the region for a brand catering to all the pharmacy, health and beauty needs of the Middle East consumer."

Mr. Mohammed Alshaya, Chairman of M.H. Alshaya Co. added: "Boots maybe one of the newest additions to our franchise portfolio of over 40 brands, but it is proving to be immensely popular to both local and expat consumers. In its homeland in the UK, Boots is part of everyone's life and we intend on replicating this in the Middle East."

Boots currently operates eight stores in Kuwait, six stores in Dubai, and one store in Qatar with plans to expand into the rest of the GCC within the next couple of years.
