Freshfields appoints senior manager from Dubai Financial Services Authority

Leading international law firm Freshfields Bruckhaus Deringer announced yesterday that Aryan Schoorl has joined the financial services practice of its Dubai office as a senior associate.

Aryan was previously a senior manager at the Dubai Financial Services Authority (DFSA), where his responsibilities included supervision of the Dubai International Financial Exchange (DIFX), advising on the application for the Dubai Mercantile Exchange, the derivatives exchange which recently commenced operations and advising on capital markets matters.

Prior to the DFSA, Aryan was a member of the markets team at the Dutch financial services regulator AFM (Autoriteit Financiële Markten), where his responsibilities included the supervision of Euronext, the European cross border exchange. Prior to that, Aryan was with Dutch law firm, CMS Derks Star Busmann in their international banking and financial services practice.
