Leading regional investment bank EFG-Hermes has announced the appointment of Kamran Bajwa as its new Chief Legal Officer and General Counsel.
"Our regional expansion plans are now in full swing, as more locations and markets are presenting themselves as compelling opportunities," says Shayne Elliot, Chief Operating Officer of EFG-Hermes. "Kamran's experience solving complex legal issues internationally and in the MENA region will be indispensable as EFG-Hermes continues to expand regionally. His significant transactional experience in all the key areas of our business is a tremendous asset which we hope will help propel our aggressive growth plans for all business lines"
Bajwa is a U.S. qualified attorney and spent the first four years of his career with premier U.S. corporate law firms, representing major Wall Street investment banks and Fortune 500 corporations. His corporate law experience includes acting as lead counsel for complex, cross-border merger and acquisition, restructuring, equity and debt issuance, and finance transactions with a deal value of over $4 billion, as well as the formation and operation of over 15 private equity and hedge funds with an aggregate deal value of approximately $3 billion. Bajwa's corporate advisory experience includes acting as advisor for several private equity, merger and acquisition, and privatization transactions with an aggregate deal value of approximately $3 billion.

Bajwa is from the United States and has lived in Dubai and Cairo. He is a graduate of the University of Michigan Law School in Ann Arbor, Michigan; he has studied Islamic Law and is fluent in English and Arabic and has working knowledge of several other languages.
