Abu Dhabi Authority for Culture and Heritage signs an MoU with New York Film Academy

The capital of the United Arab Emirates, represented by the Abu Dhabi Authority for Culture and Heritage signed a Memorandum of Understanding on Tuesday, June 26, 2007 with New York Film Academy to establish a world-class film school devoted to further develop the film industry in the UAE.
H.E. Sheikh Sultan bin Tahnoon Al Nahyan, Chairman of Abu Dhabi Authority for Culture and Heritage, said that the film and acting school to open in January 2008 and will promote the cultural scene in the region and encompass talent from all around the region. He added," Our nation's founding father, the late Sheikh Zayed, created a huge momentum in educating and developing our country. Naturally, we want to maintain the momentum by investing in our future generations to provide with the skills they need to promote the culture, and develop new forms of express."
H.E. Mohammad Khalaf Al Mazrouei, Director General of Abu Dhabi Authority for Culture and Heritage emphasized that "..."Today's signing represents our determination to create a world-class film school for our citizens who are eager to pursue careers in filmmaking. Our association with New York Film Academy will help us support artistic talents and create an environment conducive to strong cultural and artistic expression. The Academy will aid us in achieving our mission of promoting culture in Abu Dhabi."
The MOU was singed by H.E. Mohammad Khalaf Al Mazrouei, Director General of Abu Dhabi authority for Culture and Heritage and Jerry Sherlock, Director, President and Founder as well as Michael Young, Provost and Director of Education.
H.E. Al Mazrouei mentioned the international high standards represented by New York Film Academy answered all the artistic and technical requirements set by Abu Dhabi Authority for Culture and Heritage for this important and comprehensive project such as script- writing, camera works, acting, direction, production, management ...etc.
He believes that the school will provide an excellent opportunity for its graduates to depict Emirates and Arab culture in films. They will evidently profit from the experience of experts and modern techniques in cinema.
Jerry Sherlock, Director of the New York Film Academy, said "the signing reflects the school's belief that film is the international literature of the 21st century, through which individuals, communities and nations express their most profound visions of humanity to the world."
The Director General of Abu Dhabi Authority for Culture and Heritage met a delegation of American and Arab media representatives in New York who showed great interest in establishing an international film school in Abu Dhabi. They admired the pioneering cultural projects which were launched recently in the capital of the nation.
