Dubai World hosts 'Get to Know' Forum for its managers

The forum was designed to enhance an understanding of the group's collective strengths, leading to an enhanced sense of communication and to identify growth opportunities.

Dubai World, which is marking one year of its launch as a holding company for managing a vast portfolio of businesses and projects, held a 'Get To Know Dubai World' Forum involving the top management of its business units at the Emirates Towers Hotel on Monday (June 25).

Sultan Ahmed Bin Sulayem, Chairman, Dubai World, highlighted the significance that communication played in working towards a common vision:
"We are living in a world driven by information and communications, and for an organization to succeed there must be a coherent vision which every employee is working towards. Events such as this 'Get to Know Dubai World' forum are crucial for effective business management and operations and are an excellent tool for effective strategizing. I wish this forum all the success and am confident that it would lead to a valuable exchange of ideas and dialogue, creating greater synergy between our different companies."


Farid Mohammed Ahmed, Secretary General, Dubai World, said coherence within a group is essential to build greater harmony in the business environment: "Coherence within a group is essential to build greater harmony in the business environment. Following the success of the first Global Management Meeting held in January, and based on the recommendations of the Board of Directors of Dubai World, it was proposed to host the first of a series of "Get to Know Dubai World" events. Dubai World prides itself in developing and following a coherent, synergetic strategy involving knowledge exchange between its various partners, stakeholders and business units, and these events are designed to achieve this vision more effectively."

Chief Executives from different companies of Dubai World were invited to share their experiences and insights with the management teams and employees who attended the forum.

They included Geoff Taylor, CEO, Dubai Dry Docks World; Abdulla Bin Sulayem, Operations Director, The Palm Deira; Omar Hijazi, CEO, Tejari; Mohammed Muallem, Senior VP & Managing Director, DP World UAE; Abdulqader Obaid Ali, Director Internal Audit & Business Excellence Centre and David Rutledge, CEO, Dubai Multi Commodities Centre.

They spoke of their experiences of managing different portfolios within their companies and the manner in which their collective strengths could be utilized more effectively.
