Emaar Properties won the RealComm Digie Award for Best Use of Automation - Facilities Management, and Burj Dubai, the iconic tower developed by Emaar, was adjudged Most Digital Real Estate - Extreme Multifamily Residential.

Emaar Properties received the award from Mr Jim Young, President of RealComm at the Digie Awards ceremony held recently in Boston, USA.

"Real estate development has moved away from the traditional brick and mortar model, and is fast evolving as a highly automated system facilitated by a combination of different technologies," said Mr Ahmad Al Matrooshi, UAE Managing Director, Emaar Properties. "Emaar Properties pioneered the concept of master-planned communities in the UAE, and today, moving in tune with the global expansion of the company and the ambitious scope of our developments, we have scaled up our development expertise that helps us deliver innovative, best practices in all aspects of our operation."

He added: "On its course to becoming the world's tallest tower, Burj Dubai demands the implementation of integrated technology modules that accelerate the pace of construction and serves as a smart-intelligent building that delivers a most-modern environment that leads to satisfied customers, higher occupancy and lower operating expenses."

The Best Use of Automation Award for Emaar specifically fetes the commendable achievements of the developer in facilities management. The award recognises the advanced Facilities Management Command Control Centre (CCC) that Emaar operates for remotely monitoring 24x7x365 days all the electro mechanical assets of Emaar. The innovative use of Machine to Machine (M2M) technology in all Emaar assets to connect to the CCC reduces operational and energy costs, provides real time alarm and data of all equipment, and improves service delivery through proactive surveillance. Past winners of the award include General Motors Worldwide Facilities Group, The Macerich Company, Johnson Controls Inc, Teng & Associates and Kenmark.
