Al Jazeera's English language channel has more than 20,000 US subscribers to its online service, bypassing cable operators who were reluctant to carry the channel, the FT reports. Online viewers pay $6 per month for a 24/7 live stream of the channel. Even more people are watching clips of Al Jazeera on YouTube, according to TV executives.
