AD to seek $3bn utilities bids

Abu Dhabi will seek bidders for a $3bn independent water and power project in September 2007, Bloomberg reported. The Shuweihat plant will have a capacity of 1,500 megawatts of power and 100m gallons of water, an official told the news agency. Meanwhile, the Fujairah 2 IWPP is expected to be awarded this month; International Power was the low bidder to build the $3bn plant.
