Mr. Eyad Ali Abdul Rahman, DTCM Executive Director Media Relations, said the trend-setting summer festival, running from June 21 to August 31, was expected to attract more visitors to the emirate this year compared with the previous year due to the refreshing changes effected to its format to mark its 10th anniversary.

The department has been promoting the DSS through its participation in various overseas exhibitions and Dubai Road Shows in various parts of the world. It has launched an intensive promotion campaign for the DSS in addition to the exclusive Dubai Summer Getaways promotion.

These efforts will result in a tangible increase in the number of tourists descending on Dubai, especially from the Arabian Gulf Cooperation Council (AGCC) states of Saudi Arabia, Qatar, Kuwait, Bahrain and Sultanate of Oman.

He said Dubai hotels and hotel apartment have been recording high occupancy levels since the start of the DSS and the Dubai Summer Getaways promotion.

The department, in conjunction with leading hotels across all categories and tour operators, launched the exciting Dubai summer promotion to attract more visitors from the Arabian Gulf Cooperation Council (AGCC) member-states during the months of June, July and August.

The promotion offers several valued-added benefits like child free stay, free transfers to and from Dubai airport and free breakfast. The benefits offered to the guests differ depending on the category of hotels and hotel apartments.

He said the promotion was designed to capture a large share of the tourism market through its element of family holiday packages. The promotion supports the tourism industry and forms part of the department's continuous efforts to further popularize Dubai in overseas markets, he added.
