Dubai Summer Surprises (DSS) to boost tourism

Dubai Summer Surprises (DSS), the annual shopping and indoor entertainment extravaganza, will help boost tourism in the emirate, especially benefiting hotels and hotel apartments and shopping malls, according to an official of the Dubai Department of Tourism and Commerce Marketing (DTCM).
The department has been promoting the DSS through its participation in various overseas exhibitions and Dubai Road Shows in various parts of the world. It has launched an intensive promotion campaign for the DSS in addition to the exclusive Dubai Summer Getaways promotion.
These efforts will result in a tangible increase in the number of tourists descending on Dubai, especially from the Arabian Gulf Cooperation Council (AGCC) states of Saudi Arabia, Qatar, Kuwait, Bahrain and Sultanate of Oman.
He said Dubai hotels and hotel apartment have been recording high occupancy levels since the start of the DSS and the Dubai Summer Getaways promotion.
The department, in conjunction with leading hotels across all categories and tour operators, launched the exciting Dubai summer promotion to attract more visitors from the Arabian Gulf Cooperation Council (AGCC) member-states during the months of June, July and August.
The promotion offers several valued-added benefits like child free stay, free transfers to and from Dubai airport and free breakfast. The benefits offered to the guests differ depending on the category of hotels and hotel apartments.
He said the promotion was designed to capture a large share of the tourism market through its element of family holiday packages. The promotion supports the tourism industry and forms part of the department's continuous efforts to further popularize Dubai in overseas markets, he added.
