Gulf Air trainee engineers return home after successful training in Australia

The engineers were felicitated in a fitting ceremony today at the Gulf Air Flight Simulator Centre by the Gulf Air management.

"We are glad to see the young nationals getting their recognition after their hard work," says Gulf Air Vice President Technical Jeff Livings, who handed over the completion certificates to the candidates.

"Though the training is tough and challenging, our trainees were exceptionally good and promising. Their impressive score in the exams is a proof of this. These exams, coupled with practical experience on aircraft maintenance, which they will take up now, will mould them to become full-fledged aircraft maintenance engineers."

Overall, eight students scored an average of 90 per cent and above while the rest scored between 88% and 89%, which are well above the minimum pass mark requirement of 75%.

Mazin Yahya Alismaili won the Aviation Australia Award for the Most Improved candidate, while Abbas Jawad Sarhan won the Gulf Air Award for High Achievement. Omar Mohamed Albinkhalil received a Certificate of Excellence for his performance.

The young engineers will now start their two-year on-the-job experience at the Gulf Air ramp/hangar. They would then be fully qualified to be granted an European Aviation Safety Agency (EASA) Aircraft Maintenance Engineers' Licence and will join the mainstream Gulf Air workforce.
