Ancient Polynesian traditions come alive at BurJuman

From 5 - 11 July, the luxury shopping destination will showcase ancient Fijian traditions and costumes, and conduct daily demonstrations and workshops teaching shoppers the art of Flax-weaving and Tapa-making.

The entire week will feature interactive activities to keep the whole family entertained. One of the highlights will be the walking photo gallery tour, where performers dressed in ancient Fijian costumes will enthral shoppers with their ceremonial attire embroidered with traditional motifs.

Art enthusiasts can also look forward to other activities like the basket-weaving and tapa- making crafts workshops that will take place between 4.00 pm and 6 30 pm daily. Fiji's arts and crafts reflect local adaptations of their Polynesian and Melanesian heritage, and this interactive experience will give spectators an opportunity to learn the cultural significance behind these old-age techniques.
