Dubai Central Laboratory gets ISO 17025 in construction materials testing

Dubai Central Laboratory has received ISO 17025 certificate in construction materials testing. The certificate given according to international specifications was conferred by Dubai Accreditation Centre.

Eng. Abdullah Al Shaibani, Assistant Director General of Dubai Municipality for Technical Services Affairs said the ISO certification is yet another great achievement of the Central Laboratory, which has always been keen to be pioneers in the region and the world.

He said the certification process, which lasted for a long period, included intense procedures by experts, who evaluated the quality system followed by the laboratory, verified the testing process and checked the competency of the testing equipments as well as the skills of the technicians in the lab.

The ISO certification is given to 14 tests in the field of construction materials testing. They include Aggregates (Acid Soluble Chloride of Aggregate, Acid Soluble Sulphate of Aggregate and Seive Analysis of Extracted Aggregate), Soils (Acid Soluble Sulphate of soil, In-Situ Density of soil California Bearing Ration (CBR), dry density/moisture content relationship of soil and particle size distribution (Wet), Bituminous Material (Analysis of Bituminous mixtures by ignition method and penetration of Bituminous material), Carbon Steel Bars (re-bend test of steel rebars), Concrete (comprehensive strength of concrete tubes) and Thermal Insulation (dimension and density of block and board insulation).
