This wireless communication link used is Pre-WiMAX (Worldwide Interoperability for Microwave Access) technology.
"The high data transfer speed of the pre-WiMAX link has enabled the hospital and clinics within the Welcare Group to operate more efficiently and deliver better patient service" said David Ho, Welcare World Director of IT.
The speed and capacity of this link will enable the group to implement a centralized Electronic Medical Record (EMR) database where up-to-date patient information and test results are accessible from anywhere and at anytime within the group's hospitals and clinics even though these facilities are geographically spread across Dubai.
"A centralized EMR will help doctors in the management and treatment of patient conditions, and raise quality standards across the group," said Dr. Ottmar Schmidt, Welcare World Director of Marketing & Public Relations.
