New law project for protecting, organizing and managing cultural properties of the Emirate of Abu Dhabi to be issued

Abu Dhabi Authority for Culture and Heritage (ADACH) resumes holding workshops to prepare a law project to protect, regulate and manage Cultural Heritage in the Emirate of Abu Dhabi.
H.E. Mohammad Khalaf Al MAzrouei, Director General of ADACH, emphasized at the workshop, which was held last Thursday in the premises of ADACH, that heritage is an essential and fundamental element in the character formation of the Emirates people. ADACH is entrusted to protect and preserve our culture through setting up adequate and necessary legal measures and supervising scientific procedures to document, maintain, manage and promote this culture.
ADACH and international experts in the field are convened to set up the new law. The main structure of the law has been completed. It has also been reviewed in the workshop with strategic partners of ADACH from government department in the Emirate of Abu Dhabi. It has been thoroughly discussed with representatives and consultants of these departments. Consequently, the workshop has emphasized the importance of issuing a new law to regulate the cultural heritage of Abu Dhabi.
As for organizing archaeological activities in the Emirate of Abu Dhabi, ADACH is developing the necessary procedures to supervise archaeological excavations legally and scientifically by qualified and authorized people.
H.E. the Director General, emphasized the importance of employment regulations of the international accords and agreements signed by the UAE.
As for the anticipated outcome of amendment of the archaeological law, H.E. Al Mazrouei said that "...this will enhance the role of ADACH in protecting, preserving, promoting and regulating the cultural heritage. This will include other cultural aspects besides the present archaeological law and will set up new procedures to encourage protection and regulation of cultural heritage."
