Standard Chartered appoints new Regional Head of Capital Markets

Standard Chartered, a leading international bank in the UAE, has appointed Gilles Franck as Regional Head of Capital Markets for the Middle East and Pakistan.
Prior to joining Standard Chartered Bank, Gilles has spent 18 years at the former Paribas now BNP Paribas based in London, where he was Head of Debt Capital Markets for Eastern Europe, Middle East and Africa (EEMEA) region. In the MENA region specifically, large transactions from borrowers in UAE, Kuwait, Bahrain, Saudi Arabia, Iran, Lebanon, Egypt and Morocco were executed under his leadership.
"Standard Chartered has been an integral part of many markets in the MENA region for almost 80 years and we have demonstrated our ability to drive good revenue growth and continue our strong profit momentum," said Shayne Nelson, Regional Chief Executive Officer MENA, Standard Chartered Bank. "The UAE is expected to see sustained economic growth and strengthen its position as a regional hub. Gilles's move to Standard Chartered UAE, will help us continue building on the outstanding customer base for the Wholesale Banking division we have established here."

Gilles holds post-graduate degrees from Pantheon-Sorbonne, Paris and Heriot-Watt, Edinburgh. Under his direct responsibility, the Debt Capital Markets Origination team, markets transactions ranging from local currency, G3 bonds and Sukuks, to ABS, equity-linked and structured products.
