- PRESS RELEASE
Royal Jordanian transported 204,000 passengers in June 2007, marking a 14 per cent increase over the number carried in the same month of 2006, during which 178,000 passengers traveled aboard RJ.
In June 2007, the airline operated 2,454 departures, a 9% rise over the same month in 2006 when RJ operated 2,257 departures. Moreover, aircraft utilization increased from 10.6 hours per day to 11.1 hours per day for the month compared, representing a 4% increase. The on-time performance rose from 81.8% to 82.2%, an internationally high record.
Six Airbus A320s and A321s and three Embraer 195s, offering RJ passengers world-class services, have joined the fleet during last year and this year. The airline is also paving the way to replace the currently operating aircraft with newly manufactured Embraer planes for short-haul destinations, with aircraft from the Airbus A320 family for medium-haul routes and with Boeing 787-8 Dreamliner for the long-haul routes.
Royal Jordanian constantly reviews its route network. On May 25, 2007, it launched a non-stop flight between Amman and Montreal. It will also open a regular service to Budapest, Hungary, starting with July 28 this year. RJ and Malev Hungarian Airlines are members of the oneworld airline alliance.
