TECOM Investments launches green building consultancy

In another major thrust to the sustainable development initiative, TECOM Investments' Energy and Environment Park (ENPARK), a comprehensive eco-friendly community for commercial and residential units, has set up a Sustainable Design Consultants (SDC), a green building consultancy dedicated to providing building solutions in the UAE and the region.

Sustainable Design Consultants currently offers advice on almost 70 buildings in Dubai, including the new IMPZ, DuBiotech and Dubai Studio City which have been designed in accordance with the 'Leadership in Energy and Environmental' (LEED) guidelines.

Abdullatif Almulla, CEO of TECOM Investments, said: "Sustainable Design Consultants provides not only the local experience of implementing green building certification but also a durable overall value to the community with a regenerative way of building.

"Setting up Sustainable Design Consultants demonstrates that Dubai is responding to the global concerns on the environment as it builds up the resources and expertise for sustainable planning to benefit its future generation."

Sustainable Design Consultants is also assisting the ENPARK to develop into a sustainable free zone with its team of LEED accredited professionals experienced in design, development, operation and Maintenance.

Sustainable Design Consultants has already secured projects from real estate developers in Dubai.

EIT has already successfully acquired a 35 % stake in Tunisie Telecom and 60 % of Maltacom, telecommunication carriers in Tunisia and Malta respectively.

It also has a stake in Axiom, the largest mobile distributor in the Middle East, and Interoute, the operator of Europe's most densely connected voice and data network.

TECOM Investments and Sama Dubai (both part of the Dubai Holding) are also in partnership to promote SmartCity, a joint venture company to develop and manage industry townships for knowledge-based companies worldwide. It has signed agreements with the Government of Malta to develop SmartCity Malta and the Government of southern Indian state of Kerala to establish SmartCity Kochi.
