ADTA forms MICE Industry Advisory Panel

The Abu Dhabi Tourism Authority (ADTA) has formed a MICE (Meetings, Incentives, Conferences and Exhibitions) Industry Advisory Panel which will be known as 'Team Abu Dhabi'.
The IAP is about strengthening ADTA's partnership with the MICE/ Business Tourism stakeholders through better communication and consultation and provides the industry the opportunity to play a crucial role in ADTA's MICE/Business Tourism planning process, bid opportunities and product development.
The IAP also provides a forum for ADTA to listen to feedback from stakeholders on how ADTA and Team Abu Dhabi can better impact these issues.
Ahmed Hussein , Director of Product Development stated that "The Purpose/Role of the IAP is to work together to develop the infrastructure required for Abu Dhabi to grow as a Business Tourism Destination and to be a driving force in securing and promoting profitable Business Tourism for Abu Dhabi as 'Team Abu Dhabi'."
Through a range of sophisticated sales and destination marketing activities and advisory services the ADTA will be committed to providing measurable benefits for its stakeholders.
The panel members include representatives from each industry segment eg ADTA, ADNEC, destination management companies, the Abu Dhabi Authority for Culture and Heritage, Etihad Airways, TDIC (Tourism Development Investment Corporation) and venues.
Representatives are aware that they are on the panel to represent their industry sector and must identify issues of their sector from a sector basis and not their own personal company basis. They know to refer prior to each meeting to their colleagues in their sector and following the meeting report back to them and provide them with any relevant information.

About Abu Dhabi Tourism Authority
Abu Dhabi Tourism Authority (ADTA), established by Ruler's Decree in September 2004, is a statutory body with wide ranging responsibilities for building the emirate's tourism industry. Its Chairman is HH Sheikh Sultan Bin Tahnoon Al Nahyan and Director General is HE Mubarak Al Muhairi.
The ADTA's mandate covers three main areas:
•Destination marketing - the ADTA, both independently and in association with other public and private sector organisations in Abu Dhabi's tourism community, actively markets the destination and its attractions to the local, regional and international travel trade, media and general public
•Infrastructure and product development - the ADTA acts as the catalyst in driving and coordinating the growth and development of the emirate's tourism infrastructure, including hotels and other facilities and services. To this end, a tourism investment and development company with paid up capital of Dh100 million ($27 million) has been established
•Regulation, licensing and classification - the ADTA has primary responsibility for quality in the tourism industry and for ensuring consistently high standards in the sector.
Tourism's Role in Abu Dhabi's Development
The Government of Abu Dhabi has identified tourism a key sector in the emirate's future development. The industry is seen as a means of:
•Enhancing Abu Dhabi's international profile and reputation
•Promoting international goodwill and understanding
•Boosting economic diversification and growth
•Spreading development throughout the emirate
•Stimulating private sector business
•Facilitating structural change in the public sector
•Maintaining a clean and safe environment
