At an Award Ceremony held at the Intercontinental Hotel yesterday evening, IBQ employees were awarded certificates of completion by Michael Williams, General Manager.

The leadership programme which stretched over one full year was designed and tailored to suit IBQ's overall organisational goals, objectives and vision. The programme consisted of 4 modules, with the intention to help hone employees' supervisory and leadership skills, improve their people and time management effectiveness, while introducing the necessary skills and attitudes for the creation of a positive and dynamic work environment. Modules covered: an overview of behavioural and leadership styles, tools for effective communication and resolving conflict, importance of a positive attitude, performance problems and cultivating a positive work environment by encouraging new ideas and understanding cultural differences.

"We strive to ensure that our employees are always able to challenge their existing ideas by reinforcing constant personal development. This has been an extremely beneficial training programme that has received an overwhelming positive response from all employees concerned. Only by providing our employees with the tools constantly to reinvent themselves can we continue to excel in everything we do and everything we offer," commented Michael H. Williams, General Manager of IBQ.

In its commitment to ensure professional excellence and invest in its most prized asset an additional 20 IBQ employees will undergo the same programme to ensure leadership skills are ingrained throughout the bank.

Speaking at the Award Ceremony Joanne Scheuch, Head of HR said,"There is a strong link between employee engagement to their job and the success of companies. One motivation for providing Leadership Series is to strengthen leaders at all levels in the organisation so they can deliver what is needed to keep their employees' engaged in what they do and how they do it."

The leadership programme was facilitated by Sam Swaminathan; Consultant, Speaker and Founder of the Center for Creative Thinking in the US. The uniqueness of the programme is that in addition to the modules designed for IBQ, each participant has received continuous detailed follow-up tailor made for individual needs and and personal tailored action plans have been set up and executed during the programme and will continue after completion.

As IBQ continues to grow and further expand into the Qatari market it continues to invest heavily in its employees. The IBQ graduates of this programme have already taken their newly acquired skills and techniques and implemented them in their daily work activity.
