Hertz supports fight against forged international driving permits
- United Arab Emirates: Wednesday, July 11 - 2007 at 11:48
- PRESS RELEASE
UAE motorists travelling abroad to escape the heat this summer can take advantage of reduced Hertz overseas car rental rates when buying an International Driving Permit (IDP) from an Emirates Post Office.
Hertz, the world's largest car rental company, has formed an alliance with the Emirates Automobile and Touring Club, the exclusive issuer of IDPs in the Emirates. The EATC is working with Emirates Post to fight the sale of forged International Driving Permits, which can lead to serious implications for motorists when they drive overseas. Legitimate IDPs went on sale at all of Emirates Post's many outlets across the country last year.
"We're supporting the EATC in its efforts to end the illegal trade in forged international driving documents," said Hertz UAE General Manager Bob Farrow. "We can certainly help raise awareness of the problems people can face if they buy forged documents, have an accident when driving overseas, and find that their insurance is invalid as a result."
Hertz UAE is also the official car rental supplier to the EATC and provides a fleet of vehicles for year-round use by the organisation, helping to boost the EATC's work to centralise services for motoring tourists and travellers and shape the future of motor sport in the Emirates.
Part of the Al-Futtaim group of companies, Hertz UAE offers a complete range of car rental and leasing services from 13 branches in Dubai, Sharjah, Abu Dhabi, Fujairah and Ras Al Khaimah.
