Qatalum awards power plant deal

Qatalum, a joint venture of Qatar Petroleum and Hydro Aluminium, has awarded a construction contract for its 1,250mw power plant to a consortium of General Electric and Doosan Heavy Industries Construction Company, the Peninsula reported. The plant, which will use gas supplied by QP, will start operations in September 2009. The deal is worth around $500m, according to Dow Jones Newswires.
