The Health Authority - Abu Dhabi (HA-AD) has announced that small employers with less than 11 employees must buy individual health insurance cover for each employee, as opposed to buying group health insurance.

"Authorized insurance companies have the right to request medical reports for all customers applying for individual policies prior to their issuing, and the employer must submit these reports to the insurer. Employees earning less than AED 3,000 per month with housing or AED 4,000 without housing must be covered by Basic Product Policies, while employees earning AED 4,000 must be covered by Enhanced Product Policies," confirmed Dr. Finn Goldner, Head of Health System Financing at HA-AD.
HA-AD has begun inspections of employers, insurers and providers in order to monitor their compliance with the Health Insurance Law. In addition, the Authority will continue to implement procedures and processes to ensure that the law and its Code of Regulations are being adhered to.
