Sony enhances mobile computing experience with new VAIO summer line-up

The TZ and CR Series are part of the new VAIO summer line-up which also includes the FZ Series, the SZ Series and the AR Series.

VAIO TZ Series

Though light in weight and simplistic in design, the VAIO TZ Series upholds its renowned visual excellence. The cutting-edge, 11.1-inch LCD monitor provides an exceptional colour purity of 72%, making the VAIO TZ Series the first mobile PC of the same screen size to achieve such high colour reproduction rate. Together with brightness enhancement of up to 24%, the image quality is on par with an LCD TV. This means photos, personal video and films literally appear more lifelike and convincing compared to conventional displays.

An astonishingly small Motion Eye webcam is artfully concealed in the screen surround. When you consider that the lid is a mere 4.7mm thick - itself a remarkable feat of engineering - the miniaturisation of the camera is all the more impressive. This new feature removes the hassle of conventional web cameras and is wire-free, sync-free and always ready to launch.

Despite its highly compact, unusually slim case, the TZ-Series has a wealth of features. The VGN-TZ17GN/B and VGN-TZ17GN/N are powered by the latest Intel® Core™2 Duo Processor U7600 (1.20 GHz) and Mobile Intel® 945GMS Express Chipset. Integrated wireless LAN connection (IEEE 802.11a/b/g), Bluetooth® ver. 2.0, two USB 2.0 ports, SD Memory Card and Memory Stick slots (Standard / Duo size compatible) offer extensive connectivity. This precision use of space ensures that there's even room for an integrated DVD±R/RW RAM optical drive featuring Double Layer (DL) technology for massive capacity.

Security is vital for peace of mind, so the TZ-Series employs an ironclad combination of fingerprint recognition and Trusted™ Platform Module (TPM) hardware encryption to keep your personal data absolutely safe. Should you accidentally drop the machine, VAIO Hard Disk Protection automatically parks the drive heads to prevent damage to the disk.

VAIO CR Series

In the VAIO CR Series, the wrap-around trim, lustrous coating and flawless finish make each notebook a true design piece. The CR Series is built for those who enjoy active lifestyles. Having this in mind, CR Series has expanded its connectivity to allow users to fully enjoy a mobile life.
