The ferryboat which was designed according to the highest international specifications of tourist crafts was added to Southern Tourism Company's 12-ferryboat and Bargsfleet of different sizes for transportation of tourists visiting the Hawar Islands and for cargo.
H.E Mr. Fahmi Al Jowder said, 'Tourism is an important sector for Bahrian's economy and with great potential for growth in contributing to the GDP of country.'
He also mentioned that Southern Tourism Company continues to contribute in this regard by providing safe, suitable and convenient marine transportation for residents and tourists alike.
On this occasion, Mrs. Al Moayyed said: 'The launch of this BD 300,000 ferryboat demonstrates South Tourism Company's commitment towards the tourism activities promotion in general and family tourism in particular. 'The addition of this new ferryboat will meet the high demand for marine transport services,' she added.
This ferryboat can accommodate 54 passengers in addition to personal luggage and is well equipped in terms of speed and safety of both passengers and cargo.
This ferryboat was professionally designed by Al Dhaen Craft, was subject to detailed specifications and standards prescribed by the local Coastguard and relevant authorities and was supervised by a senior and accredited supervisor from the coastguard's authorities.
In addition to all the safety and security standards adopted during the manufacturing process, the best type of fiberglass and chemical materials were used, not to mention the import of other high quality and global standard fittings. The ferryboat is equipped with automatic fire protection system, heat insulator and soundproof systems, emergency exits, lifeboats, lifejackets which exceed the number of the passengers in addition to telecommunications systems, electronic navigation systems such as radar, GPS, depth detector and electronic mapping system.
As regards the interiors and passenger comfort, the ferryboat is equipped with comfortable seats, LCD TV screen, stereo sound system, generators, airconditioners, sweet water and adequate toilet facilities. Passenger compartments are equipped with locked glass windows for good sightseeing while sailing. A guidebook and entertainment magazines are provided on deck.
Southern Tourism Company is a fully owned subsidiary company of Eskan Bank and was established in 2000 as a closed company.
The Company provides marine transport services to Hawar Island in addition to tourism facilities on the island. It operates 48 beach chalets and manages 27 beach chalets owned by the Southern Area Development Company.
Currently, it owns a fleet consisting of 'Zahrat Albahar' ferryboat which carries 160 passengers, two ferryboats each with a capacity of 25 passengers, four motorboats, three dhows and two emergency speedboats.
Eskan Bank's 'Southern Tourism Company' launches BD 300,000 new ferryboat
Under the auspices of H.E. Mr.Fahmi Bin Ali Al Jowder, Chairman of Eskan Bank, a tourist ferryboat was recently launched in a grand ceremony in the presence of the Chairman of the Board of Southern Tourism Company and General Manager of Eskan Bank Mrs. Sabah Khalil Al Moayyed, Mr. Tawfiq Al Maskati, General Manager of Southern Tourism Company and other dignitaries and invited guests.
