The MoU was signed to develop three dedicated centres in the Western Region and to train a total of 300 Emirati women. The courses being offered include IT training, a business planning workshop and a professional development course due to start in the coming weeks.
The MoU was also signed by the General Women's Union (GWU), a lead a partner of IIE and a key associate in the launch of this programme. This initiative is part of WRDC's agenda for the Western Region, which puts people and their development at the forefront of their plans.
H.E. Mohamed Hamed Al Mazrouei, Director General, Western Region Development Council explains, 'Education is a top priority along side healthcare and infrastructure. As a first step, we have joined the Women in Technology programme to provide 300 women with the necessary training and development skills that they need to prosper in their current employment or to help them to take advantage of job and internship opportunities within the Western Region. We encourage women in the region to call our dedicated hotline 800-WRDC (800-9732) if they would like to be put forward for training.
'We are taking all necessary steps to deliver results in the Western Region's education sector. Our role is to act as a key link between the residents and the Education Council to identify the needs and requirements of the region to improve the education standards and quality. We will continue to communicate updates with residents accordingly,' concluded Al Mazrouei.
In its continuing efforts to develop the education sector, WRDC held meetings with Abu Dhabi University this week to study the prospects of setting-up a university in the Western Region. In another meeting with the Emiratization Council, WRDC discussed options for supporting the establishment of a call centre in the Madinat Zayed to assist the region's younger generation with training.
