This initiative comes as part of the government's efforts of Emiratization in the Municipality and other public sectors.

Evaluating Committees were formed to represent six different technical departments in Sharjah Municipality. Each committee used a customized set of criterion to interview candidates and make selections based on their qualifications for the various departments of the Municipality.

Graduates of the Sharjah Institute of Technology expressed their appreciation in being offered an opportunity to pursue a career in the government sector. A student said, "The evaluation interviews saved a lot of our time and effort in job hunting and I feel it is a great opportunity prove ourselves and serve our country".

Mr. Khalid Mohammed Bin Saoud, Executive Manager of the Institute commented,

"The interviews were organized as part of an agreement between the Sharjah Electricity and Water Authority and Sharjah Municipality. We feel it is the right direction in introducing more nationals in to the government system and prove their capability in performing well in the technical fields as well."

The evaluation interviews are a step towards UAE's efforts in establishing that the qualifications of UAE Nationals go beyond management and other executive level positions. With the introduction of students from the Sharjah Institute of Technology into Sharjah Municipality, UAE Nationals now get the chance to prove their excellence in the technical fields as well.

Mr. Abd Al Rahman Al Mahmoud, Manager of Transport and Freightage department in Sharjah Municipality expressed his optimism about these committees and said, "the Municipality divisions definitely need more qualified local employees. Similar to the nationals who have already proven their competence in the management departments, we are positive that employing these students will see an increase in local talent in technical departments and sections."

He further added, "It was encouraging to see so many students come forward for the interviews with great enthusiasm and we hope this will soon translate into positive placements within the Municipality."
