- PRESS RELEASE
Barwa Al Khor has today announced the launch of the tendering process covering initial installation work for its QR25bn mega project.
Commenting on Phase 1 of Barwa Al Khor, Engineer Youssef Ahmed Al Hammadi, CEO Barwa Al Khor said: "This is an important step for the project management in its race to execute Phase 1 within the allocated time. We are committed to deliver the entirety of Phase 1 by Quarter 1, 2011."
"The first phase is only the beginning of the operation and it will allow everyone, especially people living in the Al Khor area and those interested in the project, to follow the progress of its execution. Hopefully, we will start to invite local contractors to undertake tenders for the filling and leveling of the land next November, knowing that the volume required for preparation is approximately 7 million cubic meters and we plan to terminate this phase by the end of 2008," Al Hammadi added
Al Khor is one of several huge projects being undertaken by Barwa Real Estate Development Company. Barwa Al Khor, a dedicated company, was founded to undertake the project exceeding QR25 billion in value, covering an area of 5.5 million square meters.
The Al Khor project will be a complete city development including more than 17,000 housing units consisting of seafront chalets as well as villas and apartments with sea views. The development will house 63,000 inhabitants and create a number of commercial businesses including shopping malls, leisure facilities, open gardens and tourist attractions such as a seashore running the full length of the project featuring luxury hotels and a golf course.
