- PRESS RELEASE
ATV (Jordanian United TV Broadcasting Company PLC), Jordan's first independent TV Channel started its pilot broadcast and signal testing as of yesterday.
The channel kicked off its pilot broadcast with a series of promos that showcase the proposed grid of programs. ATV plans to provide its viewers with an array of cultural programs, news bulletins and current affairs' programs. The channel will also cover sport shows, family entertainment programs as well as children programs. ATV will be Jordan's first independent TV channel to provide its viewers with local content.
Mohannad Al-Khatib, Managing Director of ATV, stated: "This is an exciting time for all of us, ATV will seek to provide every Jordanian with new innovative content that suits the needs of our local communities. ATV aspires to be a pioneer in the local media scene. We encourage viewers to tune in and get a feel of our programs."
"ATV's team of dedicated talented professionals has worked hard over the last few months to put together this array of programs and will work diligently to provide content that respects the Jordanian viewers' choices and intellect. This will be an untraditional media platform in Jordan," he added.
ATV was founded by Mohamed Alayyan, a Jordanian business man who has invested in Jordan's media scene including Al-Ghad daily, Al-Waseet classified paper, in addition to several magazines and FM radio stations.
ATV intends through a wide range of programs to entertain, inform, and contribute to the development of a professional press culture in Jordan; by focusing on local affairs as its competitive edge, it will be closer and more relevant to Jordanian viewers. ATV announced earlier this year that it will go public, making it the first satellite station in the Arab world to do so.
