- United Arab Emirates: Monday, July 23 - 2007 at 11:32
- PRESS RELEASE
'OPEN for Business' is the theme for Sun Microsystems at GITEX 2007, as the company highlights the openness and interoperability of its software and systems for organizations across the Middle East.
"Sun's approach toward open systems is paying significant dividends for our customers in the Middle East, and GITEX gives us the opportunity to highlight the specific ways in which Sun is 'OPEN for Business.' Our Solaris operating system is open-source and runs on any hardware platform, our server systems from blades through to enterprise solutions are powered by both AMD and Intel processors, and we're enabling developers around the region to develop new, open software solutions using the Java platform," said Deena Habib, marketing manager for Sun Microsystems MENA.
"GITEX 2007 will also be the first time that Sun honors its customers in the Middle East with a range of awards that recognize the resourceful ways that businesses in the region are deploying Sun solutions to lower their costs, serve customers better, and be more competitive," she continued.
Sun offers a complete range of storage and consolidation solutions, software, systems, and services. Sun's impressive server line-up spans from fast and reliable to energy efficient platforms that offer operating systems of choice, scalability and performance. A team of experts from Sun's Software, Systems, Storage and Services (four S's) divisions will be present at GITEX to give visitors an in-depth view of the business benefits of Sun's solution; and will provide insights into the efforts the company is employing to integrate the four S's to drive value, grow communities, increase participation and build new markets.
In addition to highlighting the openness of Sun systems at GITEX, the company will also be flying its 'green' banner during the five-day exhibition. "Our experience in the region is demonstrating that some of our largest customers are paying as much as or more for the floor space, electricity and air conditioning in their data centers than they invested in the IT systems, so our new servers have been engineered to consume less energy and use innovative cooling processes to be more environmentally-friendly and cheaper to run for Sun users," Habib added.
Visitors to GITEX can also learn more about the new Sun Blade 6000 family, which is the first-ever system to combine Solaris, Linux, Windows, and VMware running on single and multi-core processors by Sun, AMD, and Intel, in one chassis. Organizations that need greater security and flexibility in their applications can get a closer look at Sun's Java Enterprise System, while banks, universities, and telecoms providers are likely to be checking out SunRay thin client solutions that keep company information assets centrally stored, administered, and managed in a cost-effective way.
For companies struggling with data growth, Sun experts will showcase storage solutions that integrate with its software and servers for a robust, accessible and secure information management environment.
