Dubai's Istithmar could launch Barneys New York in markets such as China and the Middle East if it completes a deal to buy Jones Apparel Group, Reuters reported. Istithmar agreed to pay $825m for Jones, which owns clothing, shoes and accessories brands such as Nine West, Gloria Vanderbilt and Jones New York. Japan's Fast Retailing then offered $900m in an unsolicited bid.
