Abu Dhabi Education Zone teachers complete British Council's teaching knowledge test
- United Arab Emirates: Tuesday, July 24 - 2007 at 15:24
- PRESS RELEASE
In the second programme of its kind, Abu Dhabi Education Zone (ADEZ) and the British Council recently completed a seven-week teacher training course.
The training programme recognises the growing need for continuing education for teachers and for them to keep abreast of the latest teaching methodology. The British Council hopes that the sessions and support materials from the training programme will be used by the participants to pass on their new knowledge to other teachers in their schools.
Sessions on the course were relevant to Module One of the TKT Award and covered language and background to language learning and teaching. For many teachers this was a good opportunity to refresh their existing teaching knowledge, while getting ideas for presentation and teaching techniques during the sessions. Feedback from the course was overwhelmingly positive.
Fawzi Marreez, an English Teacher at the Al Shawamek Basic School, commented: 'The training course is up to date and I think it is essential that every teacher should attend.'
Wafaa Genady, Supervisor of English, Abu Dhabi Education Zone, added: ''All parts of the course were practical and useful for us, as teachers. All the concepts were based on a scientific foundation."
The British Council ran an earlier Train the Trainer programme with ADEZ for 12 supervisors. Further courses are planned by the British Council as part of its English Language Teaching programme.
