Khalifa Al Shamsi, Vice President - Marketing (Consumer & SMB), Etisalat, said: "Etisalat has always prided itself on its understanding of the requirements of the UAE communities. We regularly try to come out with services to meet the needs of UAE's multicultural society. Etisalat's portal 'Weyak' now brings our Asian expatriate customers SMS-based news services which will keep them abreast of developments in their home countries on a continuous basis."

Weyak offers the following eight subscription-based breaking news services: India News, Kerala News (in English & Malayalam), Pakistan News, Philippines News (in Tagalog), Bangladesh News, Sri Lanka News and Nepal News.

Weyak has ensured that the services are of high quality run by experienced journalists and obtained from trusted sources, with the emphasis on content accuracy.

The service will deliver news on important events, politics, business, entertainment and sports news five to six times a day. As a unique feature, Weyak is also offering Kerala news in Malayalam for allowing customers with GPRS connections on their mobiles to download a small application to their handsets, which will allow them to access Kerala news in their native script.
