Etisalat sets a date to celebrate with UAE farmers

Etisalat sponsors the 3rd Annual Dates Festival which is taking place this week in Liwa.

The Festival, is being held under the patronage of HH Sheikh Mansoor Bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Minister of Presidential Affairs and seeks to find the most succulent dates grown by UAE farmers. The Date Festival has been sponsored by Etisalat for the second time and is supervised by the Department of Municipalities and Agriculture.

The aims of the festival are to promote the UAE agricultural industry through promoting the use of international best practice in farming whilst at the same time, educating farmers on environmentally friendly methods of maintaining their crops.

Etisalat is sponsoring the event as part of its commitment and contribution to the society of the UAE. Etisalat, the UAE's largest company, contributes 50% of its profits to the UAE Government making it the greatest contributor to the federal budget excluding incomes related to oil. Etisalat is also contributing 1% of annual revenues to support innovation and entrepreneurship through the ICT Fund.

Etisalat's other initiatives promoting the success of the UAE include its support of the National Mobile Phone Recycling Campaign which aims to remove dangerous substances from the UAE environment. It is also sponsoring various aspects of the forthcoming law related to people with Special Needs. Etisalat has also formed the Etisalat University College to help build a talent pool of qualified engineers to continue the ongoing growth of the UAE.
